You are missed.
You will always be missed.
For a presence like yours, couldn’t go unnoticed.
Your love, laughter, smile, generosity,
The way you reached out to people
In a very simple, but beautiful way.
You confronted the demons that many shied away from.
You made so many lives better.
By just a comfort word,
By showing the way you simply knew how !
You did hold hands of many lives, many considered unworthy!
But you knew the secret,
You knew every life is important and worth.
You knew time spent towards healing a soul, is never wasted ,for it travels long for the gratitude.
You went beyond the looks,
Reached out many broken hearts.
Reached out to those labelled by the society unnecessary!
From the bleeding hearts,
To confused minds,
To hardened hearts,
There was no difference to you!
You saw what many couldn’t,
Someone crying out to be noticed,
You went beyond the walls of prejudices,
Beyond the hidden pain behind smiles,
Beyond the misunderstandings!
You reached out to survivors as well as perpetrators for you understood all need help.
You were not afraid to reach out,
You left all judgments behind, because you knew and saw in everyone what others couldn’t or didn’t want to see!
You were one of the greatest but yet approachable!
Throughout your life, as you reached for the skies ,you didn’t create walls like many do, you instead took everyone with you and wanted everyone to reach as high as you could !
For you knew there is enough for everyone where understanding and kindness are.
You worked for peace for a country once destroyed by hatred,
And you leave your legacy behind!
You were the voice of unheard and misunderstood.
For us survivors of the terrible 1994 genocide against the Tutsis,
You were a Father, a friend, a brother, a comforter!
Despite being a victim yourself,
You didn’t dwell on that.
You knew you had more to give for healing and confronting the unspoken, the ugly!
All the good in you,
You didn’t want to hold for yourself.
You shared,
You taught many how,
How to heal and to notice.
You leave a great legacy behind!
A beautiful family,
And a strong one that is ready to carry on your legacy!
You will be deeply missed,
But through yours,you are alive
You will never die!
For your name is a sacred one, not only for your closest family but the large family you leave behind!
For Rwanda the country,
For the world as large, as there were no barriers to whom you reached out to!
Yourself went through the pain of a long illness, but even throughout you never stopped to work, to carry on, with a smile and courage until the limits of your body couldn’t give anymore!
I believe you are at peace now!
Beyond the pain and the suffering,
You are now happy and experiencing the love of the Most High, beyond what we can comprehend!
You are in God’s hands
You are with yours whose lives were cut short in 1994
They welcomed you with warm smiles and open hands!
You are at peace!
But down here on earth know you are deeply deeply missed ,and that will always be!
