On Friday 28-08-2015, we (@Scotland Transerv based in Polmadie office) had a memorial for remembrance of our departed colleagues next to a place where a bench engraved with their names was erected outside the office, to pay tribute to their lives.
Here is a poem I shared with everyone at the memorial …the poem is called YOU SIMPLY REMAIN dedicated to Jillian and Willie.
You simply remain!
Saying bye to those who came and went,
take time to notice!
May be a headache, a row at home,
Frustration over unfinished job,
I forgot to notice !
And now I’m agonising over a forgotten simple good morning,
A forgotten sorry or simply a hard one to say.
Take time to notice!
He is just a colleague – is he, is she ?
From all walks of lives and homes,
But we spend more or less 8 hours working to one goal – serving the people we know or those who pass by.
But how often do we miss the pain and sadness
The simple joys of those we sit next to?
Do we simply do not notice or are we afraid to ?
Today it is just a good bye really!
Or should I say,a remembrance of the meaning your lives left with us,
Because sometimes passing by the reception,I can imagine the glimpse of a familiar voice – Jillian
Past the reception few steps away, I can visualise a good morning from the ground floor kitchen or a goodbye on my way home – Willie
Today i know we won’t see you again here at the office,
But, looking at your memorials,
It is a gentle reminder that in the memories of those who shared a part of your journey,
In the hearts of your loved ones,
You simply remain!
